If you were to ask a selected number of people of different races, religions and backgrounds what they believed was the biggest problem that the world was currently facing, they will likely give various answers but very few people will actually speak about the garbage crisis that the world is facing that is not spoken about and that the governments fo the world are hardly making public when in fact, they should because it is the consumption of the people that is causing the massive amounts of garbage that is filling up landfills that the world no longer knows where to put. This garbage is filling up our oceans, our rivers and killing of much of our wild life while we continue to use up of the earth’s resources, resources that the earth no longer can give. We live in a world of consumerism where people continue to buy and buy products only to create more garbage and more waste and then, continue to buy even more products. Every person on this earth creates waste and every baby that is born starts making waste from the day they are born because of the new trends in using disposable plastic nappies and readymade food which comes in plastic packaging and beautiful solid timber vanity. We need to stop using of the earth and we need to stop producing waste.
Waste in our homes
We create a lot of waste in our homes without even realizing it because of the modern lifestyles that we lead. When we are working on the interior decoration of our homes, we buy brand new wooden furniture without a second thought about the deforestation that is ruining the world and the number of trees that they have to cut to make that furniture when we can look at other options. There are many places that sell recycled wood furniture where old furniture has been bought from places that were going to throw them away and they have been reinvested so that another tree does not have to be cut down. When you are buying something, always ask yourself if you truly need it before you buy it because in this age of money and consumerism, we often buy things that we do not need for our homes. We are in a constant cycle of buy and throw when we can reuse much of the things that we plan on throwing away thereby saving money, saving resources and also reducing the amount of things that go in to the landfill every year.
